I answered it and the mail

man handed me a box.....

I was so excited! LOL

I just love getting packages.....

but then I realized I wasn't expecting anything

Well I brought it into the Dinning Room &

started to open it....Well Inside was

the Cutest Little Scruffy Primitive Bear

I have ever seen.....

I was so surprised......

I just wanted to tell Kristine

Thank You for the Gift and Making Me Smile

I was Very Surprised....

I will always cherish him!

My Tyler started 4th Grade Today

put on your blog.....well it happened to me....SAD!

This Olde House Needs some Brightening Up

Not sure what Color were going with yet.....but definitely not white! I was Originally thinking a Taupe Color with Cream Trim & Black Doors but that's so common now....Were wanting something Unique & that stands out.....but still keeping with a Traditional Colonial Theme..........I've been looking around here & also on line at a lot of Historic Properties & there's so many Motifs to Choose from......Being Simple to Accenting Every Detail......One thing I do know! This house is a

Drab Canvas & We can't wait to Paint & Bring it back to Life...Two Words.....CURB APPEAL!

We've also been Looking at Exterior Period Lighting

~~* Were Most Likely going to go with the Onion Light *~~

I think it would Look Grand on each Side of the Front Door

~~* There Stately yet Simple *~~

Also Planning this Spring to Remove these Two Big Bushes

& add a New Fresh Landscape of Flowers & Greenery

Maybe some Window Boxes & Raised Panel Shutters

& New Door Hardware

Oh the Possibilities ~ All Smiles ;0)

So I thought I'd Share....The First one is...

Circa 1798 Rhode Island Federal

Second is....Circa 1771 Maryland Federal

The 3rd Home is Circa 1790 New York Federal

Lastly a Circa 1740 Georgia Federal

And This one.....I just Threw in because I absolutely Love It!

When the Weather Breaks & the Tiny Green Grass Starts to Peak through the Ground & the Trees &

Flowers Start to Bloom

Now Back to Work.....hhhhmm! LOL

Well we Finally Finished Gutting Out the 3rd Floor

& as You can see the Framing is Completed

A Few Hundred of 2x4's and 18 Sheets of Plywood.

I never seen so much wood in my life LOL

Trips up & down 2 Flights of Stairs & I've lost 14 Pounds, which is a Good Thing!!!! All Smiles....I guess that's one way of getting back Your Girlish Figure!!! Remolding LOL!!!

New Floor ~ Old Floor.....A Small Section has been Left for the Electrician to Open up the old floor and Ruff in the New Electric, So when we gut out the Kitchen ~ we'll have all new Electric for plenty of Outlets, Dish Washer & ETC

Framed Different on each side due to the Beams being so uneven

Now Even & ready to be insulated & Sheet Rocked

When we gutted everything out

The Beams & the Wooden Pegs were Exposed

All Pegs were still in perfect condition as if they

were put in a few years ago! Amazing.....How they

Constructed Houses back in the Early 1800's

In the picture below.....At each arrow You can see some of the long wooden Spike like Pegs......There's about 15 of them that go straight across the peek....& that's how the House is Held Together.....The Same Pegs are found all

throughout the Cellar as Well

Its Getting There....Well Enough about that

Now for the Prim Results of Our Bedroom

My Goodness....I Remember the first time I saw this room

This is what the room use to look like...I know! UGLY!!!

The Wall Paper was Brown, Orange & White

The Ceiling was Chipping with Falling Paint

The Wainscoting & Trim was So Incredibly Checkered

It took My Husband a Whole Weekend to Scrap it to almost bare wood! The Floors were Drab, Stained with Paint

& Scratched Real Bad!

Here is the Room Stripped & Primed

with a Brand New Ceiling

It Was definitely worth all the Hard Work!

Here it is now.....Still trying to keep it Simple....

and that's Hard Work in itself LOL!

Planning to either Stencil or add Crown

Molding or Both to this Room....To Give where the

~*Wall meets the Ceiling a Tailored Look of Charm*~

The Priscilla Curtains will do for now....but I would like to eventually purchase come Virginia House Swags or

have Panels Drawn Back

The Website that I would like to purchase these curtains from is called Home Sweet Homespuns & they have the Best Curtains ~ There also Featured in Country Sampler Magazine

I think either one of these would be Wonderful for a

Period Styled Bedroom or any other room of Choice

In the Picture Below, behind the peg rack is a Fireplace.

As well as there being another one in the room just below this room on the first floor....There is also another covered one in My Dinning Room & in the room just below. There are a total

of 6 Fireplaces in this house & three Chimneys. With only two fireplaces showing as of right now in each Living Room.....In the future we plan to uncover and reclaim the other 4 to bring them back to life....I'm pretty sure the mantels are not there but you never know.....and if there not, we can always go to a Antique Restoration Salvage and Pick out some other Antique Mantels.....It would be Wonderful if the Original Ones are still there & intact...but we'll have to see....Interesting! I don't know why any one would cover them???? There's is also remnants of a what we think was once a Hearth in the basement....but where not sure? If that's what it is....It Kinda makes sense because there's a dumb weightier that comes up from the cellar & enters into the Butlers Quarters & its not to far from what we think was a Hearth....mmmmm? I'll have to find time to go down to the Historical Society

& do some research ;0)

Finally an Update....All Smiles Here!

We Finally Moved In.....We've been here now for about 2 1/2 weeks! As You can see We have been So Very Busy with the House ~ The Renovations are STILL coming along.....SLOW but Coming LOL

So I wanted to at least Show 2 of the Finished Rooms

Which are My Dinning Room & Living Room

The Hues We Choose were.....December Starlight By Valspar for the Walls

Which is a Real Soft Snowy White ~ Then the Trim is Called Colonial Beige by Waverly...Which is more of a Muted Grey Color ~ I Originally Choose a Mustard type color for the Trim but when the first coat was applied ~ I Absolutely hated it, so we repainted all over again! And My Husband just about had a fit! But its done & I Love It And so does he...

He Finally Admitted LOL!

~~* The Color Fits this Olde Homestead Perfectly *~~

So far I've added a few things to both the rooms but I'm not really sure what and were I want everything to go....So I'm decorating out of boxes that I've stored over in the Butters Quarters for now.....Back & Forth I go & try something new....

Some things stay & some things Go! LOL

~* Trying to be Real Simple...but its So Hard *~

Ta Dah! It came out Stunning.....I have to say! Were very Happy with the Results....

If You can Remember what it looked like before...LOL

The Walls now are Belle Grove Buff......A Soft Cream

The Trim is Prairie Dance ~ A Very Light Creamy Tan

Both from the Valspar Historical

Preservation Collection from Lowe's

The Tray Ceiling....is almost complete.....We just need to add Crown Molding to the Inside ~ I haven't made up my mind yet....but its going to

be something Simple. Inside the Tray Ceiling is a White Ceiling paint with its walls in the Coordinating Bell Grove Buff....When the molding is added

that will be painted in the trim color

Again Just Very Simple.....Still adding & making changes ~ I would like to add Plantation Shutters in the Future but for Now I have the Scalloped Shades

Maybe some Colonial Draw String Curtains

as Well but for now I'm using Swags with Panels

This Week We Pretty Much Finished Painting

Accept for the Living Room

The Floor Company ended up coming a

Little Sooner then We Planned
Which was Fine with Me....All Smiles :0)

These Old Oak Floors Turned out

Absolutely Beautiful
They have all been Re-Sanded & Brought

Back to Life
Here's Joe buffing in between Coats

We decided to Leave the Natural with a Semi-Gloss

We added a Tray Ceiling to the Living Room.....as you can see the Frame is

Up & Almost Ready to be Sheet Rocked

There is a Total of 8 Recessed Lights

3 on each side of the room with 2 more

over the Mantel

The Focal Point of this Room will be the Tray Ceiling

which will hang this My New

~~~~ Colonial Wood & Forged Iron Chandelier~~~~

In the Dinning Room We Choose
Colonial Beige for the Trim with December Starlight

Walls with a Clean & Traditional Motif

Later......We plan on adding Molding

to all the Rooms

The Original Molding was Brittle & too Old to Save.

I Wanted to add the Molding Now.....

but Oh My Goodness

I had No Idea How Much Crown Molding was....LOL

The One that I liked was 15.99 a Foot....Yeah Ok!!

CRAZY!

So that Project is going to have to Wait a Bit! LOL!!!

The Two Photos above is what My Dinning Room

& the other Floors Looked Like During the Week

Well over the Weekend.....They Applied the first Two

Coats.....And They Already Look Stunning

Just One more Coat to Go......Then there Done!

But there is still so much more to do....

We Just Purchased a Historical Property

A Large Colonial Federal Owned

By John Walden Circa 1830

What I've found out so far is he owned his own Cooperage......Which is the Profession of a Person who makes Wooden Staved Vessels....such as Firkin's, Buckets, Barrels, Tubs, Butter Churns & Much More.....

HOW APPRECIATE {All Smiles}

So his Company was making Primitives before

they were PRIMITIVES LOL

They were the Needfuls of their Time!

This Home is Absolutely Stunning

Sure it Needs lots of Interior TLC

but Were Ready & Up for the Challenge!

Plus We Get to Design & Create it to Our Liking...A BIG PLUS I might Add

An Entry Way with an Elaborate Fan Light Lead Glass Window

3 Floors with a Full Basement

It is Post & Beam Constructed with a

180 Years of Olde New England Charm

Its a Small Two Room Cottage

with an Up & Down Stairs that the Butler would Retire to every Evening......LOVE THE HISTORY

to let him move in & make it a 2 floor bedroom
with its own separate entrance
Yeah Right Marquise! LOL

My Palettes are Going to be Warm & Neutral

Lowes has a Wonderful Collection of Historical Paint Colors

Were so Looking forward to Moving in Soon!

Then the Memories Begin & lets not forget the Decorating!!!!!

Its been a lot of Hard Work & Plenty of Take Out Nights.....

I Swear I don't know whats worse

The Paint or Grease on My Hands or the

Taste of Dust in My Mouth! LOL

But with Plenty of Help & Care from Our Family & Friends...

For Every Special Part Played

We couldn't of Done it with out You
